PILOT CRISIS SHARE VIBRANT NEW ALT-ROCK SINGLE"DREAMS IN DISGUISE"
Brisbane alternative rock outfit Pilot Crisis are back with their vibrant new single "Dreams In Disguise", delivering another dose of fuzzy guitars and punk-fuelled, infectious melodies with a dark story lurking beneath the surface.
"Dreams In Disguise" explores the human tendency to surrender to things that promise fulfilment, only to find ourselves trapped by the consequences. The song begins after the dream has already turned sour and failure is unavoidable - the pressure is mounting and the world is watching, while the protagonist remains willingly bound to the very thing that brought them there.
For Pilot Crisis, the song’s mysterious "creatures" represent whatever keeps us obedient - temptation, guilt, shame, expectations, ambition or addiction, while the "master" can take whatever form fits the narrative - a career, money, another person or ego. Despite recognising the path they’re on, the protagonist continues feeding the thing that controls them, haunted by memories of a happier life and unable to let go of the fleeting pleasures that once seemed so important.
Produced, recorded and mixed by Matt Cochran (Talk Heavy) and mastered by Brock Weston (BUGS), "Dreams In Disguise" continues the creative partnership behind much of the band’s recent releases. Comprised of Evie Hudson (vocals), Mitch Chen (guitar), Eliot Argus (bass), Tim Ricketts (drums) and Nick George (guitar), Pilot Crisis have spent the past few years steadily building a reputation for themselves within Brisbane’s alternative scene.
They released a trio of singles across 2023 and 2024 - "Misguided" (landing Top 4 in Domestic La La’s 2023 "Catch of the Year"), "Sad Sunshine" and "Turning On The Tele" - and kicked off 2025 with their first mini-tour alongside Vipersnatch, and supported local favourites Beddy Rays. Their 2025 single "No Vacancy" marked another step in the right direction, with triple j Unearthed describing it as "pure 2000s punk rock for the cool older siblings".
2026 has seen Pilot Crisis level up their live presence, kicking off the year with a packed headline show at Greaser Bar, followed by the release of their last single, "Little Astronaut Friend", before landing their biggest show to date supporting iconic Melbourne rockers The Smith Street Band at The Triffid.
The roll continued with a support slot for Sydney punk favourites Hellions, where PitPass praised the band’s confidence and ease onstage, noting that being first on the bill "didn’t shake them", and Wall of Sound similarly highlighted the band’s ability to fuse contrasting musical elements into a performance that left a lasting impression.
