LIVE REVIEW: LETLIVE + STEPSON @ THE TRIFFID 05/09/25
Letlive launched their farewell tour Sincerely Yours at The Triffid, Brisbane. The American band, who reunited this year, played a career-spanning set to a packed house. Stepson opened the night in front of a lively hometown crowd.
LIVE REVIEW: SABATON + AMARANTHE @ THE FORTITUDE MUSIC HALL 07/09/25
Amaranthe and Sabaton delivered one of the most joyful concerts I have been to in Brisbane this year and I have never seen crowd engagement in the music and the band like I witnessed at this gig. The two Swedish power metal titans really delivered to the crowd.

British alt-rock powerhouse Don Broco performed at Princess Theatre in Woolloongabba, Brisbane, to a receptive, enthusiastic audience on the opening night of their 2025 Australian tour. They were supported by Sydney pop-punkers RedHook and Melbourne metallers Future Static.

LIVE REVIEW: BIGSOUND 2025
Cecilia spent four days immersed in Big Sound 2025, capturing the heart of Australia’s premier music festival. From Rageflower’s commanding debut and Azure Ryder’s graceful presence to Ullah’s raw honesty, Hatchie’s dreamlike shimmer, Lyric’s polished new chapter and Cheeky Leash’s coastal charm, it was a celebration of talent, growth and the future of Australian music.
LIVE REVIEW: ROME + KING DUDE + THE MIDNIGHT MACABRE @ CROWBAR 29/08/25
ROME’s voice is like liquid chocolate — hypnotic and mellifluous. His songwriting is both beautiful and terrifyingly insightful, his realpolitik worldview delivered through acoustic melodies. His songs shone, and all they needed to hit home were his voice and a guitar – no more was needed.
LIVE REVIEW: THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN & Ho99o9 @ THE TIVOLI 17/08/25
The Dillinger Escape Plan did not have any gimmicks, no sentimental speeches just a “happy to be back in Australia and Brisbane”, it was what you saw – was what you got. It was pure, controlled chaos. Slightly unhinged, highly animated and very loud music as the songs were delivered at rapid fire pace.
LIVE REVIEW: WAVE RAIDERS, CHAMBERLANE, KARMA POLICE @ SOLBAR 17/08/25
Wave Raiders’ ‘My Way’ launch at Solbar was full of energy and fun, joined by Chamberlane and Karma Police. The three bands delivered a strong afternoon of music that highlighted the bright future of the local scene.

Our superstar contributor Cecilia checked out Bella Amor’s This Is Where I'm At Tour at Music Industry College, marking her 100th gig of the year. LIVE REVIEW: FELONY @ THE BLACK BEAR LODGE 02/08/25
The Black Bear Lodge was the venue of return for Felony (aka Layla Borhani) as life had made its way full circle – a true revolution – that is emblazoned on her guitar. She stated “I played my first gig here to like four people. Now we are sold out and it’s a dream come true. I can’t thank you enough for all coming along”. Viva la revolution!
LIVE REVIEW: THE SPILL CANVAS + THE JULIANA THEORY @ THE TRIFFID 20/07/25
Both bands came to The Triffid as a double bill to play and celebrate the anniversaries of their important albums: The Spill Canvas’s second album 2005’s ‘One Fell Swoop’ and The Juliana Theory's debut album 2000’s classic ‘Emotion Is Dead’. This pairing of bands was a dream line-up for emo and indie-rock fans. Check out our full review.

LIVE REVIEW: ANDREA KRAKOVSKÁ @ ARCANA EMPRESS THEATRE 05/07/25
A powerhouse show of skill. Andrea Krakovská went from shredding guitar to spinning mid-air, upside down, hanging by her arm and neck. A true celebration of expertise.
LIVE REVIEW: TESTAMENT + SNAKE MOUNTAIN @ THE TIVOLI 18/06/25
“A near-full Tivoli is proof that Testament have come some way since their first visit to these shores in 2007 when they played to maybe 300 people in the run-down beer barn that used to be attached to the old Waterloo Hotel”. We were in the pit, we saw it all - read our full review.

LIVE REVIEW: CLOUD CONTROL + PLATONIC SEX @ THE PRINCESS THEATRE 30/05/25
“The band started playing the first song from ‘Bliss Release’: and the band and the crowd did bliss out with ‘Meditation Song’ and then the singing started with ‘There's Nothing In The Water We Can't Fight’, then ‘Ghost Story’ followed before the crowd went crazy when the opening chords of ‘Gold Canary’ started. It was a special moment for fans who were singing their lungs out and is obviously a special song for many people in the crowd.” Read Cecilia’s full review for more on this unforgettable night.
LIVE REVIEW: MI-SEX + PRICEY @ CROWBAR 31/05/25
“It was a truly wonderful and joyful performance from Mi-Sex. I didn’t want it to end. And, it didn’t as the encore then turned into “one more song” as the crowd wanted more. Steve Balbi rallied the band and the crowd and said “I saw Mi-Sex play this song live 35 years ago and it just got me” as the band launched into a cover of David Bowie’s ‘Heroes’ and it was ‘spine tinglingly’ good.” Dive into Cecilia’s full review for all the highlights.
LIVE REVIEW: BURNING WITCHES + ASYLUM + REVENGER @ CROWBAR 24/05/25
“But it was Laura Guldemond who held the centre with her mesmerizing stage presence. Her voice alternated between gritty growls and piercing high notes and her ability to control the crowd was grounded in the theatricality of 1980s metal that she delivered with modern urgency.” Read Cecilia’s review of their thunderous Aussie debut.

LIVE REVIEW: YACHTLEY CREW @ THE TRIFFID 18/05/25
“They brought the perfect retrospective setlist of classic songs to the packed-out crowd: and it really was banger after banger as they delivered a night of musical brilliance, huge singalongs and the best fun you can have with your clothes on.” Dive into Cecilia’s review of one of the most fun shows Brisbane’s seen.
