“This song hurts in the most beautiful way. Bittersweet, slow, tough, like big waves in slow motion, hard and yet so melodic. Music like this is the best example that melancholy, at least for me, is a beautiful feeling that I can wrap myself in like a blanket when I feel like it. In addition, ‘Winter’s Dying Heart’ has a clear reference to real events, packaged in a modern fairy tale.

Commenting on the song and video, vocalist Nick Holmes states:
"Salvation embraces the belief in a higher power and seeking forgiveness for a lifetime of transgression, typically prompted by the approach of death or a significant crisis. However, the video, and given that it is Christmas, takes perhaps a more optimistic view.

Mark Jansen shares insight into the inspiration behind the track:
“In Hindu philosophy, Kalki represents the final avatar who restores balance at the end of the age. That idea of breaking free from cycles—through self-realization, detachment from desires, and inner transformation—resonates deeply with me. ‘Avatar’ channels that journey toward liberation, something both powerful and universal.”

In a groundbreaking creative step, the band partnered with Matthew Medney and Alex Kane of Gungnir to incorporate animation drawn directly from the forthcoming installment of the official NINE TREASURES comic series. The “Seeking The Absolute” music video seamlessly blends live performance with stylized sequences pulled from the comic’s visual mythology, merging art, music, story, and culture into one unified expression.

Following news of their new album, Nothing returns with a new song and video “purple strings”, which presents a different side of the band from the previously released "cannibal world". Their fifth studio album, A Short History of Decay will be out Friday 27th February via Run For Cover Records/Civilians.

Frontman Jake E comments, "'Box with Spirits' looks at the architecture of avoidance — the masks we wear, the truths we tuck away, and the small, deliberate choices that keep us from being seen. The title is a careful double entendre: spirits as both ghosts and distilled solace.

As bassist Pär Sundström says, it was filmed at a historic location in Italy. “This was one of the most enjoyable music videos we’ve ever made. Everything flowed smoothly thanks to the amazing energy of the actors and the unique charm of the location. We spent two days filming in Sabbioneta, Italy, at the Teatro all’Antica, which is one of the oldest surviving indoor theatres in Europe. It was a fascinating location, full of character and history.”

Myles Kennedy explains: “The erm ‘Playing Aces’ ties in with the gambling analogy of risking everything regardless of how many times you’ve failed in life. It’s a last-ditch effort to come out on top.”

"Cannibal was one of the last songs added to record, sonically focused on combining nu metal, alt rock, and industrial dance music," Young says. "The song takes the life and mating cycles of black widow spiders to compare and contrast intimate relationships of our own and how they can be 'cannibalistic,' nihilistic, and ultimately end in demise."
