CHINCHILLA UNLEASHES DARK NEW SINGLE ‘VIPER’

Today, sonic rebel CHINCHILLA returns with her latest single, ‘Viper.’ Dark, edgy, and atmospheric, the track represents the raw anger and frustration that comes with betrayal, pairing cinematic production with a powerful vocal performance. 

Written in the Sweden wilderness alongside producer Hampus, CHINCHILLA says of the track: “Viper is from that peak stage of angry heartbreak. Pure betrayal rage… All the things you feel but shouldn’t say out loud because it’s not fair or diplomatic or whatever. God I love writing those feelings into songs.”

What started as an intense writing session grew into something much bigger, with CHINCHILLA continuing to build on the song for months, adding layers of vocals, a key change, drums, guitar and strings. The result is one of the most expansive tracks in CHINCHILLA’s catalogue to date, taking the anger of heartbreak and turning it into something loud, dramatic and almost dreamlike, layered with hypnotic synths and a pulsating production that builds an intoxicating atmosphere.

Lyrically, ‘Viper’ captures the anger that comes with watching someone move on after promising they never would, with CHINCHILLA confronting the lies and betrayal head-on. “Said you’d never love again, you liar / Said you’d never leave – you fucking viper” sits at the heart of the track, turning those thoughts you would normally keep to yourself into an unapologetic release.
