TALK HEAVY SHARE NEW SINGLE "WEDDING BANDS"
Blending ferocity and melancholy, Talk Heavy are Brisbane/Meanjin’s next big heart-on-sleeve export, delivering an emotionally charged mix of alternative rock, pop-punk and emo. Today they share their newest single, "Wedding Bands", out now via Ninth Life Records.
Fresh off touring with Origami Angel (USA) and recently supporting Free Throw (USA) and Microwave (USA), Talk Heavy are stepping into a new chapter with a run of releases through their freshly acquired Australian label Ninth Life Records, with bookings handled by Destroy All Lines. Their new single "Wedding Bands" follows on from the anthemic "Die 4 U" and shows a softer, more narrative-driven side to the band.
"Wedding Bands" tells the story of attending a friend’s wedding, imagining your own future, and reflecting on love, connection, and the moments that shape a life together. Self-produced in-house by vocalist and guitarist Matt Cochran and mastered by Will Yip (Movements, Scowl, L.S. Dunes), it marks one of the band’s proudest and most heartfelt releases yet.
"It reflects on meeting someone, those early moments, and how they compare to where you are now, looking forward to the rest of your lives," says Cochran. "Musically, it pulls influence from Rozwell Kid, Modern Baseball, Joyce Manor, and even Modest Mouse in the lead guitar. I think it tells a strong lyrical story from the daydream of the first verse, to the real time moment of the second verse, into the realization of the outro."
Talk Heavy will take “Wedding Bands” to the live stage on Saturday 4th October when they play Bugs fundraiser show, joining friends in DZ Deathrays, Dear Seattle, Beddy Rays, Sly Withers and more at The Tivoli in Brisbane. In November they'll join Teenage Joans and TOWNS at Black Bear Lodge in Brisbane on The My Heart's Dead! Tour. Tickets are on sale now.
