PROMPTS SHARE MELODIC NEW SINGLE "DEATH OF ME"

Continuing to prove themselves as one of metals most exciting up and coming acts, Japan-based metalcore outfit Prompts tread new ground on silky smooth new single "Death of Me", out now via Greyscale Records in partnership with Papercut Records (US).

Leaning into a more subdued and atmospheric direction, "Death of Me" sees the band trade thrashing undercurrents for a slow-burning sense of yearning. The track lingers and aches, built around a deeply human contradiction - the kind of love where wanting the best for someone means convincing yourself to walk away. "One part of you swears letting go is the right thing to do, while the most honest part of you is quietly begging for the exact opposite," says the band. Ultimately, "Death of Me" unfolds as a confession confronting vulnerability and embracing softer truths. "It is about finally facing the softer, weaker parts of yourself you were trying to hide, and admitting that all you really wanted was to stay close to the person who never left your heart.”

Prompts will bring their evolving sound to the stage in April, joining Australia’s alternative metal favourites Thornhill for two shows in Japan, performing in Osaka on Tuesday 7th April and Tokyo on Thursday 9th April.

Known for redefining genre boundaries, Prompts have built a reputation for masterfully fusing elements of nü-metal, mathcore, djent and deathcore, crafting a sound that is entirely unique to them that feels both experimental and refined.  With members hailing from both Japan and South Korea, the band’s dual heritage continues to shape their distinctive sound - a melding of contrasting influences and cultures.

The release follows last year’s singles "Deceiver" and "Stranger", the latter featuring Landon Tewers of The Plot In You. Born from years of friendship off the back of tours together, the collaboration marked a defining moment for the band and earned widespread praise, including recognition from Metal Hammer as one of their Tracks Of The Week. They described it as "an absolute rager," highlighting its ability to bridge metalcore’s heaviest elements with anthemic tendencies.

Since forming in 2012, Prompts have established themselves as a force within Japan’s heavy scene, sharing stages with Kublai Khan, Crystal Lake, The Plot In You, Crossfaith, and Stray From The Path, as well as performing at a number of music festivals around the country. Prompts made their Australian debut in early 2024 touring with The Gloom In The Corner and HEAVENSGATE, before returning later in the year to support Diamond Construct nationwide.
