GARDEN EYES REFINE THEIR MODERN EMO SOUND ON MOODY NEW SINGLE "BLUR"

Rising Brisbane alternative rock quartet Garden Eyes share moody new single, "Blur", the band's fourth release of 2026 and another step towards a larger release later down the line.

A brooding emo rock tune that takes on a darker and more mature tone, "Blur" thematically explores desperate hope and connection, detailing the relief of reciprocated affection alongside the complications and strain of a long distance relationship. It's about the push and pull between closeness and absence and the constant struggle between stability and the fear of falling.

The track arrives as a natural companion to their earlier releases, "Sunshine", "Speak Slow" and "Contest", continuing the band’s exploration of complex relationships. "Speak Slow" captured the push and pull of imbalance, self-doubt and a self-destructive connection, "Contest" navigated the realities of loving someone struggling with depression and "Sunshine" paired a brighter sonic palette with a poignant reflection on loss and grief. Together, the four tracks paint an increasingly nuanced portrait of the complexities of human connection.

Produced, mixed and mastered by Jackson Deasy (East Capri), the new singlesfollow a string of live shows for the band, including recent sets with Brooklyn Comic, East Capri, Bloom,Avoid (US) and The Local Romance.

On triple j Unearthed, Garden Eyes have drawn comparisons to artists that place them well within the modern emo and post-alternative landscape. triple j Home and Hosed's Anika Luna reviewed "Speak Slow" with four stars, saying: "You know it's the calm before the storm in those quieter more melodic moments - Garden Eyes this is crushingly beautiful!" and triple j's Claire Mooney awarded four stars to previous single "Sunshine" saying: "Garden Eyes sounding passionate on this one. Reminds me of Slowly Slowly at moments. Looking forward to hearing more."
