EXCUSE FOR AN EXIT UNLEASH RAGING NEWALT-POP EARWORM"HATE ME LIKE I DO"

Melbourne alt-rock four-piece Excuse For An Exit push into heavier territory with their sultry new single "hate me like I do", a dark exploration of self-loathing and the warped ways we can see ourselves.

Written from a paranoid state of self-doubt, "hate me like I do" digs into the projection of low self-esteem onto others, and is a clawing back of power from perceived rejection. Produced, mixed and mastered by Chris Lalic (Windwaker, Headwreck, RinRin), the track is infectious, shifting between sugary pop melodies and more aggressive moments as it mirrors the battle between head and heart. It's the heaviest Excuse For An Exit have ever sounded, incorporating screamed vocals with edgy bubblegum-pop hooks, pushing their emo rock foundations somewhere a little more volatile.

Excuse for an Exit have fostered an inclusive and alternative community within their local scene since their beginning in 2020. The unwavering support of their dedicated fanbase, as featured in the music video for "ur villain", remains steadfast as they embark on a transformative sonic journey. Seamlessly blending electronic elements with their signature emo-rock repertoire, the four-piece continue to push boundaries and embrace their evolution.

The quartet have steadily built a name for themselves through a string of impressive achievements across the past few years. They performed at the inaugural Siren Sounds, an all femme-fronted and LGBTQI+ mini-festival raising funds for The Red Heart Campaign, and took the reins on their own Lifeline fundraiser, managing, running, and performing two shows that raised $1500 for charity.

They've cemented themselves as a rising force in Australia’s alternative scene, headlining sold-out BONEZ events in both 2023 and 2024, headlining and selling out hometown shows across Victoria, and supporting artists to the likes of daine, RinRin, Bloom, The Beautiful Monument, Belle Haven and more.

"hate me like i do" is out now and streaming everywhere.
