THE AMITY AFFLICTION ADD THORNHILL & WAAX TO MONUMENTAL SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE SHOW
Ahead of their only Australian headline show of the year held against one of the country’s most iconic backdrops, THE AMITY AFFLICTION have announced some special guests who will be sharing in this unique live experience on the Sydney Opera House steps.
Joining the metalcore legends for this memorable night on Saturday 12 December will be metalcore trailblazers THORNHILL, as well as the punk-driven euphoria of WAAX.
When it comes to putting Australian heavy music on the map for a new generation of fans, THORNHILL have picked up the mantle and run with it in recent years. The critically acclaimed, ARIA Award winning group from Melbourne has become renowned for their expert world-building; weaving a dark and cinematic landscape of alternative and metal sounds together, delivered with their signature and unapologetic identity.
With the release of their 2025 album Bodies, putting the band on the road internationally and throughout Australia across the last year, the THORNHILL list of major accomplishments has continued to grow; whether it has been touring through North America with Sleep Token, completing their own major headline Australian tour and a run of impressive festival appearances during the European summer. The band’s return to Sydney for this unforgettable show supporting THE AMITY AFFLICTION speaks to the strong connection between bands, continuing to add to the current domination of Australian heavy artists further into the mainstream.
WAAX - the evolving project of magnetic songwriter and artist MAZ DeVITA - burst back onto radars in 2026 with the release of a brand new album in Angel’s Mess. Released independently via Drunk On Power Records, the third album from the alternative/punk act demonstrated a reverence for the band’s legacy as one of Brisbane’s strongest exports, while keeping its creative focus and attention trained definitively on new horizons.
DeVita’s songwriting prowess has remained at the heart of WAAX as a project and stepping further into a new and rejuvenated spotlight with Angel’s Mess this year, the band has devoured the opportunity to show new and longtime fans alike the new creative chaos they are thriving upon.
THE AMITY AFFLICTION’s mammoth run through this year, anchored by the release of their ninth studio album HOUSE OF CARDS, has brought the Australian group a renewed sense of self and fulfillment, bringing their new music together with their beloved catalogue to fans around the world. The band’s Sydney Opera House show caps off a huge year of Australian and international touring - putting a triumphant marker on one of their most formative chapters to date.
Tickets for the one-off show are selling fast, do not pass up the chance to see one of Australia’s biggest bands in such an epic setting.
