LIVE REVIEW: ANDREA KRAKOVSKÁ @ ARCANA EMPRESS THEATRE 05/07/25

There was an amazing aerial guitar show performed in Moorooka by the skilled guitarist Andrea Krakovská. Touring with Pseudo Echo, Andrea Krakovská, is a fantastic guitarist who has other amazing skills like the ability to swing and hang up side down while playing her guitar. She can also play piano/keyboard skills and do other trapeze and aerial skills while playing guitar.

The performance was a mixture of heavy music with Iron Maiden and other guitar-based music referenced and circus. The gig started with a lovely solo set from Georgina Neilsen. There was Koala Man who got the crowd moving, the aerial skills of trapeze artist Miss Phoxlyn, and skilled band with Emma Nagy (guitar), Renee Cobcroft (drums) and Scott Piper (bass).

The gig started with Georgina Neilsen delivering a vulnerable and stripped back set of her own original songs. Georgina Neilsen is part of the band Not Gonna Lie. The standout songs were ‘How Does It Feel?’ , ‘Keep On Lovin’ You’ and a new song ‘Doin’ Time’. Georgina Neilsen let the crowd know that her new solo EP would be out soon.

There was a short break it was time for the main event: Andrea Krakovská, her ariel partner Miss Phoxlyn, and her band. The band took to the stage and played ‘Die 4 U’. And, it was then the crowd realised, that this performance was going to be a full-on experience of music and circus. It was thrilling to watch Andrea Krakovská and Miss Phoxlyn the trapeze, as the music blasted out across the venue. Andrea Krakovská controlled and commanded every part of the stage floor, the air above the floor, and the musical arrangements.

This gig was a celebration of expertise as every person on that stage was highly skilled: a powerhouse crew of musicians and performers. Miss Phoxlyn demonstration of her skills on the aerial ribbon by climbing into the silk as ‘Always With Me’ played in the background. Throughout the set each performer was emphasized with a solo piece. Scott Piper delivered a great bass solo. After ‘Warmness On The Soul’ and a ‘Harmony Medley’ the drummer Renee Cobcroft displayed her abilities. The next solo set after ‘Warrior’ saw Emma Nagy play guitar deftly. Her work on the guitar was smooth.

The focus of the gig, was Andrea Krakovská. She played her guitar like in a normal performance, before she took to the air to perform her ribbon and rope trapeze work. She shimmied up the rope and within a few seconds she was spinning, or she was upside down or hanging by her arm and neck. She also had arranged, and written musical pieces like the gorgeous ‘Elusion’ and the poignant ‘Land Of The Tatras’. She played the Roland keyboard a few times during the set.

The performance, or set, ended with ‘Time Of Your Life’. It was interesting to see a show that had its roots in circus. The aerial stunts were pure spectacle and there was no safety net! Andrea Krakovská and her band were exciting, exhilarating, extraordinary and unforgettable. If you get the chance to see Andrea Krakovská and her band: go and do not hesitate!
