DIVEDOWN SHARE DEBUT EP 'WHERE THEY MAY'

Melbourne alternative rock outfit divedown share their debut EP, Where They May, out everywhere today via Ninth Life Records. They'll launch the EP live at an exclusive show in Melbourne on Saturday 13th June. Tickets on sale now.

Across Where They May, divedown explore the push and pull of relationships, self-awareness, and the struggle to actually act on what you know is right, "A lot of the lyrics set out to navigate the limbo between moving on and holding on, where you’re questioning feelings you’ve technically already processed but haven’t fully accepted," says vocalist Sam Bianco.

Tracks like "Picture My Life" and "Bad Way" lean into nostalgia, indecision and unresolved feelings, while "Towards The Light" and earlier single "All For What" reflect a growing awareness of destructive thought patterns, even if breaking free still feels easier said than done. "The EP is kind of like a reflection on being stuck between my emotions and rational self. About knowing I need to move forward, but not quite being ready to let go." 

Musically, divedown continue to grow with every release. Debut single "Blame Game" introduced punchy pop punk foundations, while "In My Head" pushed into moodier and heavier territory, drawing influence from Balance & Composure, Superheaven and Hundredth. "I Want To See It All" bridged those worlds, paving the way for the broader scope heard across Where They May.

divedown is supergroup of sorts within Melbourne’s alt community, the band bring together vocalist and guitarist Sam Bianco, guitarist Michael Romeo, bassist Josh Godwin, and drummer Tim Irwin, each with a background respectively in beloved local outfits like Set The Score, Weighbridge, Parkwood and Darcy Baker/Cordiform. Their early signing to Ninth Life Records, already home to a small community of emerging alternative acts including Talk Heavy and Bad Neighbour, was a sign of what's to come, and marked the band's first major milestone.
