Adelaide alternative metal quintet alt. have announced their dark new concept EP, Nevermore, will be out on Friday 15th May via Resist Records (AU) and SharpTone Records (ROW). They'll launch it live in Adelaide at Lion Arts Factory on Saturday 20th of June.

Diving into the dystopian vision behind Nevermore, vocalist Daniel Richards unravels the core narrative of the EP: "'Nevermore' is a concept EP set in the year 2073, where Earth has been pushed to the brink of collapse by war, corruption and unchecked consumption. With the planet left barely habitable, escape is a luxury reserved for the wealthy, while the rest are forced to fight for survival, earning their passage off-world through bloodshed.

Following our unnamed protagonist, the story is a desperate journey from the ruins of Earth to the promise of a new world: Nephilim. But what awaits is far from salvation. Beneath the surface lies a familiar darkness, one that threatens to repeat humanity’s past mistakes. As history begins to repeat itself, 'Nevermore' evolves into a tale of awakening and revolution. Realising the cycle must be broken, our protagonist ignites a revolution against a ruthless regime, determined to reclaim freedom and rewrite the future before it’s too late."

Produced, mixed and mastered by Callan Orr (Dream On Dreamer, Hands Like Houses), the EP features previously released singles "They’ve Always Lived In The Castle" and "Sucker Punch", both leaning into ideas of systemic control, imbalance of power and the boiling point that follows suppression.

Emerging in late 2019, alt. quickly built a devoted following through their fusion of punk, pop, electronic and alternative rock. Their debut EP dysfunctional has amassed well over two million streams, propelling the band onto national tours and support slots with Don Broco, Enter Shikari, Saosin, Dayseeker, Karnivool, Cog, Windwaker and more.

In 2022, alt. signed with Resist Records and SharpTone Records, ushering in a darker era that led to their 2023 debut album ABEYANCE. Featuring collaborations with Jack Bergin, Marcus Bridge and Landon Tewers, the record cemented their genre-blurring identity. Their followup single "Conversations That Hurt", co-written with John Floreani, highlighted their melodic dexterity. Since their inception, alt. have sold out national headline runs, headlined a night of Unify Gathering, performed at Froth and Fury Fest, Unify Off the Record and have featured on BBC Radio 1.

New singles "They've Always Lived In The Castle" and "Sucker Punch" are available and streaming everywhere now. Nevermore will be available everywhere Friday 15 May via Resist Records and SharpTone Records. Tickets for alt.'s upcoming launch show available Thursday 9th April.
